Hi sir Veera Pandya Kattabomman's original name is Bommu KattanaSubramanyaNaiacker ."Veera Pandya " means Brave Pandyan ruler,"Katta" is not his surname "Bommu" is his surname.In Tamilnadu he is called Bommulu or Bommu vallu who came from Andhrapradesh.Bommu is the Surname belongs to Kapu Caste of Hindus.Now also u can find more people with surname Bommu in tamilnadu,karnataka and kerala along with AP.But no body with surname Katta except in Ap.

Katta is derived from Getti(Telugu) or strong. As Subramanya naicker is a strong bommu he is popularly called as katta bommu later transformed as KattaBomman. Later our cinema people changed his history and called him as veera pandya kattabommana.Actually he is not a pandyan king but he is one of the strong ministers of Pandya Kingdom.

He had intentionally been kept in the dark by the So called Historians..
